Pastor Bill Holmes, a native Texan, spent the majority of his young life in the city of Los Angeles, California. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and received the Holy Ghost at the age of 15 while under the leadership of the late Pastor Obie Brooks at Grace Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. As he continued to mature in Christ, in 1974, the Lord directed his thoughts and steps towards The Olive Grove COGIC under the late Pastor James Starr in Los Angeles, California. At Olive Grove Pastor Holmes faithfully served in many roles and positions in the church and in the community. Two of his greatest loves were working with the Youth Department and Music Ministries. Pastor Bill acknowledged the call to preach at the age of 29 and was ordained as an Elder shortly thereafter.

In 1978, he met the lovely Sister Barbara Williams (also known as Sweetie), and they were married February 16, 1980. The Lord blessed them with two wonderful children, Billy II and Brandalynn; and now their family has expanded to include a son and daughter-law, and five beautiful grandchildren. Pastor Bill and Sweetie have been happily married for 39 years.

In 1984 God called Pastor Bill to work with the late Pastor Leonard Williams (father-in-law) at Faith Tabernacle COGIC in Pasadena, California where he served for 15 years. God used his ministerial and musical gifts to grow the ministry there. In 1999 God revealed yet another plan for his life and they moved to Fayetteville, Georgia. He founded The New Family of Christ Ministries in 2003, where he and his wife serve as pastor and co-pastor, and God continues to add to the church. Pastor Bill’s desire to be enriched intellectually and spiritually led him to further his education. As a result, he received Degrees in General Education, Biblical Studies and Leadership.

With a practical, yet insightful and captivating preaching style, Pastor Holmes is dedicated to spreading the good news of the Gospel to everyone he meets. He is a sought-after speaker who is called on to empower and encourage the people of God as he travels the country proclaiming God’s Word.
